Applications are now open for the Iceland Writers Retreat (IWR) Program 2026 — a fully funded opportunity for writers from all backgrounds to participate in one of the world’s most inspiring literary gatherings.

The retreat will take place in Reykjavík, Iceland, from April 15–19, 2026, and will include five days of writing workshops, panel discussions, and cultural experiences. Whether you are an emerging writer or an established author, the IWR provides a unique platform to sharpen your skills while experiencing the breathtaking landscapes of Iceland.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be 18 years or older at the time of application
Open to writers from all countries and backgrounds
No professional writing experience required — both beginners and experienced writers are welcome
IELTS is not required, but proficiency in English is necessary
Selection is based on:
- Demonstrated writing potential
- Quality of submitted samples
- Clear motivation statement
- Proof of financial need
- Two recommendation letters
