Fully Funded in Japan: Apply for the RIKEN CBS Summer Program 2026

Are you passionate about neuroscience and eager to gain hands-on research experience in Japan? Applications are now open for the RIKEN Center for Brain Science (RIKEN CBS) Summer Program 2026 in Tokyo. This prestigious, fully funded internship offers students and young researchers from around the world an exceptional opportunity to explore brain science under expert mentorship.

The program runs for 2 months and includes two tracks:

A laboratory internship (June–August), or
An intensive 5-day lecture course (July).

There is no application fee, and all selected participants will receive full financial support.

Program Tracks & Dates

1. Laboratory Internship (2 Months)

Dates: June 9 – August 7, 2026
Task: Participants will join a CBS research lab, actively contribute to ongoing projects, and present their research outcomes at the end of the program.

2. Lecture Course (5 Days)

Dates: July 22 – 28, 2026
Task: This intensive course provides deep insights into selected neuroscience themes, covering fundamental concepts and the latest research techniques.

Eligibility Criteria

Open to applicants from all countries.
Must be currently enrolled in an academic institution or employed by a research-related organization/company during the application and program period.
Must provide a Certificate of Enrollment or equivalent documentation.
High school students are not eligible.
International applicants must hold a valid passport.
