Applications are now open for the Max Planck Internship 2026 in Germany – a prestigious fully funded research opportunity for outstanding students from around the world. Organized by the Max Planck Institutes for Informatics, Software Systems, Security, and Privacy, this program welcomes students from all areas of Computer Science and related interdisciplinary fields.
Based in Germany, the Max Planck Institutes are globally recognized for cutting-edge research. The internship is open to Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students, offering a chance to gain hands-on experience with world-class researchers.
While you can apply anytime during the year, most internships take place in summer. Each program lasts 12 to 14 weeks and provides complete financial support – covering travel, accommodation, living expenses, and visa costs.

Language Requirement

Internship Roles & Mentorship

Eligibility Criteria
To apply, you must:
- Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program
- Have a basic background in Computer Science (students from interdisciplinary fields like social sciences, economics, law, or humanities are also encouraged to apply)
- Be interested in research or looking for a Bachelor’s/Master’s thesis project
- Be a student from any country
Visa Support
Selected candidates requiring a visa will receive full support and official documentation from the Max Planck Institute.
