The American University in Cairo (AUC), in collaboration with the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), invites applications for the 10th Annual Leadership in Mental Health Course, scheduled from June 1 to 12, 2025. This intensive program is designed to empower public health professionals, policymakers, and mental health leaders with the skills and knowledge to drive impactful mental health initiatives in their communities.
Course Overview
Celebrating a decade of advancing mental health leadership, this two-week course offers a blend of theoretical foundations and practical approaches. Participants will engage in:
- Mental Health Policy and Advocacy: Strategies for sustainable mental health care systems.
- Leadership and Management: Developing skills to lead teams and initiatives effectively.
- Global Mental Health Systems: Understanding diverse mental health service structures.
- Cultural Competency: Tailoring interventions for varied populations.
- Data and Research: Utilizing evidence-based research to inform policies.
Interactive workshops, case studies, and group discussions will facilitate real-world application of knowledge and foster peer learning among professionals from Africa, the Middle East, and beyond.
Scholarship Opportunities
- Africa CDC Sponsorship: Fully funded support for 25 public health professionals from Africa, covering travel, accommodation, and course fees.
- AUC Scholarships: Limited scholarships for candidates from low-income countries in the Middle East, covering partial or full tuition, travel, and accommodation.
These scholarships aim to eliminate financial barriers, promoting a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
