What is the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP)?
The RCIP offers a pathway to permanent residence (PR) for skilled workers who have a genuine job offer from a designated employer in Sault Ste. Marie. It’s designed to help smaller communities like Sault Ste. Marie attract the skilled talent they need to grow — and to help newcomers find a supportive, welcoming new home.

Who is Eligible?
To qualify for the RCIP in Sault Ste. Marie, you must:
- Have a valid job offer from a designated employer in the community
- Have at least 1 year of related work experience in the past 3 years (1,560 hours)
- Meet the language requirements (English or French proficiency based on your job’s TEER category)
- Have a Canadian high school diploma or an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) showing equivalency
- Show you have enough settlement funds (unless you’re already working in Canada)
- Plan to live permanently in Sault Ste. Marie

Applications are open from May 1st, 2025, to July 31st, 2025. Early application is strongly encouraged as positions may fill up quickly! The program focuses on priority occupations across key sectors.
