The Centre for Reproductive Health at the University of Edinburgh’s Institute for Regeneration and Repair is seeking a talented Postdoctoral Research Fellow to lead groundbreaking research on the role of G-coupled receptors (GPR56 and GPR97) in the progression of acute myeloid leukaemia (AML)—a challenging blood cancer.
Location: Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom
Field: Research & Science | Skilled Worker Visa Available
Application Deadline: June 20, 2025
Job Type: Full-time (35 hours/week) | Contract: Fixed-term (3 years)

This research will explore:
- The biology of GPR56/GPR97 in both leukemic and normal haematopoietic stem cells.
- The creation of leukaemia cell lines and human iPSCs deficient in one or both GPRs.
- Functional analysis of these cells to uncover mechanisms of AML progression and resistance to chemotherapy.
Note: Appointments made above spine point 4 (UE07/35) may result in a slightly shorter contract due to funding constraints.
Who Should Apply
Ideal candidates will possess:
- A PhD (or near completion within 2 months) in haematology, cell biology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in normal and malignant haematopoiesis.
- Strong skills in human cell culture, including primary cells, cell lines, and iPSCs.
- Expertise in multi-colour flow cytometry, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, and molecular biology.
- A strong research background, innovative thinking, and a passion for advancing cancer biology.
