Applications are now open for the 2026–2027 Chatham House Academy Fellowships, a prestigious fully funded programme hosted by Chatham House, one of the world’s leading policy institutes based in London, United Kingdom.
This competitive fellowship offers emerging leaders the opportunity to conduct independent research, expand their global networks, and contribute to high-level policy discussions over a 10-month programme beginning in October 2026.
The fellowship is delivered through the Queen Elizabeth II Academy for Leadership and the Next Generation and brings together professionals from academia, government, civil society, media, and the private sector.
About the Chatham House Academy Fellowship
Selected fellows will join a diverse international cohort and spend the fellowship:
- Designing and delivering an independent research project aligned with global policy priorities
- Contributing to Chatham House publications, research initiatives, and public events
- Engaging with policymakers, scholars, and international experts
- Participating in an intensive Leadership Masterclass Programme focused on communication, influence, and strategic leadership
The programme is designed to strengthen both subject-matter expertise and leadership capacity.
Fellowship Streams Available
Applicants must apply under one of the following fellowship tracks:
- New Generation Europe Fellowship – for Russian citizens or dual nationals
- Mo Ibrahim Foundation Fellowship – for citizens of African countries
- Richard and Susan Hayden Fellowship – open to applicants worldwide
- Stavros Niarchos Foundation Fellowship – for Greek citizens
Each track is fully funded and follows the same core structure, but eligibility differs depending on citizenship.
Research Areas
Applicants are expected to propose a research project that aligns with major global policy themes such as:
- Climate change and energy transitions
- Global health systems and health equity
- International law, peace, and security
- Digital governance, artificial intelligence, and technology policy
- Global economy and financial systems
- Regional geopolitics (including Africa, Europe, MENA, and Latin America)

Fellowship Benefits
