Have you ever imagined spending a month in historic Swedish farmhouses, fully funded, while developing a creative or research project inspired by UNESCO World Heritage Sites?
Applications are now open for the UNESCO World Heritage Residence Scholarship 2027 in Sweden. This is a fully funded 4-week residency program open to international applicants from all countries. Selected participants will live and work in the Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, during the summer of 2027.
The scholarship aims to support individuals with creative, cultural, or research-based ideas that connect the Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland with another UNESCO World Heritage Site, in line with UNESCO’s values of cultural exchange and heritage preservation.
There is no application fee, and IELTS is not required.

Program Objectives & Key Features
The residency is designed for individuals actively engaged in art, culture, heritage, nature, and research.
Participants are expected to:
- Spend one month immersed in the Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland
- Develop a project that creatively or academically links Hälsingland to another UNESCO World Heritage Site
- Contribute to global dialogue on cultural heritage, sustainability, and creativity
Projects may take the form of artistic work, cultural documentation, academic research, or cross-disciplinary exploration.
Financial Benefits
The UNESCO World Heritage Residence Scholarship is fully funded and includes:
- One-month accommodation in one or two UNESCO-listed farmhouses in Sweden
- SEK 50,000 grant to support project development and implementation
- Round-trip international travel to Sweden
- On-site transportation, including access to a car
