World Press Institute Fellowship 2026 in the USA (Fully Funded)

The World Press Institute (WPI) Fellowship 2026 is now accepting applications! This fully funded, 9-week fellowship in the USA offers international journalists the chance to explore American media, culture, politics, and contemporary issues.

The WPI Fellowship aims to advance journalistic experience, promote the free flow of ideas, and expand professional horizons. Fellows will gain deep insights into U.S. history, current affairs, challenges facing the media, and social, economic, and political issues. Participants will also visit leading media outlets in Washington, D.C., Chicago, New York City, San Francisco, and other major cities.

Number of Fellowships

Only 10 fellows will be selected globally for the 2026 cohort.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Open to all nationalities
Must be a non-U.S. resident
Minimum 5 years of journalism experience in print, broadcast, or online media (excluding student work)
Eligible roles include news/editorial positions, photojournalism, cartooning, writing, production, and supervising journalists with at least 5 years of experience
Fluency in English and demonstrated leadership potential
