Applications are now open for the UNU Junior Fellows Internship Programme 2025/26 in Tokyo, Japan. This is a paid internship opportunity offered by the United Nations University (UNU) at its headquarters in Tokyo. It is open to both international and Japanese applicants with no application fee required.

The UNU Junior Fellows Program offers students, recent graduates, and young professionals a unique opportunity to gain practical work experience in an international UN environment. The internship spans six months, running from August 26, 2025, to February 25, 2026.

Financial Benefits

1.5 days of paid leave per month

Internship Objectives

The UNU Junior Fellows Program aims to:

Encourage interaction between young scholars, professionals, and UNU staff
Provide practical exposure to the workings of a United Nations agency
Support the work of the Office of the Rector
Develop administrative, research, and project management skills in an international context

Eligibility Criteria

To apply, you must:

Be of any nationality
Be under 32 years old
Be currently pursuing or have completed postgraduate studies (Master’s or PhD)
Have no more than 5 years of relevant work experience
Be fluent in English (written and spoken)
Have strong analytical, research, and writing skills
Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and teamwork
Be proficient in MS Office (especially Excel)
