From Yale University in the United States to a powerful closing session in Paris, France, this program offers hands-on learning, global networking, expert mentorship, and leadership development — all expenses covered.
About the Fellowship
The Emerging Climate Leaders Fellowship brings together 16 outstanding young professionals from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America/Caribbean. Participants come from a wide range of sectors, including:
- Government and public policy
- Clean energy and sustainability startups
- Finance and climate investment
- Journalism and media
- Academia and research
- Legal and regulatory institutions
- NGOs and civil society
The program is fully funded, with no application fee.
Fellowship Timeline & Structure
April 7–11, 2026 | Yale University (New Haven, USA)
- 1-week in-person orientation
- Sessions with Yale faculty, researchers, and climate centers
- Explore initiatives like the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication, Center for Natural Carbon Capture, and more
May–July 2026 | Virtual Learning Phase
- Online workshops with global experts
- Topics: climate governance, decarbonization, climate finance, carbon markets, innovation, energy access, regulatory policies, methane reduction, and more
September 15–19, 2026 | Paris, France
- 1-week in-person closing
- Meetings with leading institutions like the International Energy Agency and OECD
- Fellows present policy proposals to global stakeholders and join a growing alumni network

Eligibility Criteria
- Citizens of countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America/Caribbean, and the Middle East
- Aged roughly mid-20s to late 30s (early to mid-career)
- Proven experience in clean energy, climate policy, sustainability, or environmental innovation
- Strong leadership potential and commitment to local or global climate action
- Professional proficiency in English (IELTS not required)
