The University of South Africa (UNISA) is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals to serve as independent contractors (markers) for the 2025 academic year. These contractors will support the assessment of Development Studies modules within the Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies programme on a fixed-term, one-year contract.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must hold:
- A Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) or Doctoral degree (NQF Level 10) in Development Studies or related fields such as:
- Sociology
- Political Science
- Public Administration
- Anthropology
- Economics
- Sociology
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in training on myUnisa LMS (Learning Management System)
- Grade student assessments and exams online
- Maintain alignment with academic expectations by engaging with course lecturers
- Understand the course content and teaching philosophy of assigned modules
Required Skills
- Strong digital literacy and computer proficiency
- Excellent English communication skills
- Time management and reliability
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications
- Own a personal computer with internet access (no tech or data will be provided)
- Familiarity with Moodle, myUnisa, or other LMS platforms
- Previous experience in distance learning (ODL) or online grading
