Applications are now open for the UNIDAR Outer Space Security Conference 2025 (OS25) — a fully funded 2-day conference taking place in Geneva, Switzerland from September 9–10, 2025. This unique event invites young individuals from around the world to envision the future of outer space governance and contribute their ideas through a creative video competition.

Organized by UNIDAR (United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research), this flagship event brings together youth, academics, military officials, private sector leaders, and policymakers to address emerging challenges in space security and promote inclusive governance of outer space.

Selected participants will receive full financial support to attend OS25 in Geneva, including:
- Round-trip airfare to/from Switzerland
- Accommodation during the conference
- Daily stipend for meals and incidentals
Conference Theme – Video Competition
To apply, participants must submit a 1–3-minute original video based on this year’s thought-provoking theme:
“It’s the year 2050. You work on outer space security—as a treaty negotiator, orbital traffic controller, infrastructure inspector, or something else. What challenge do you face, and how are you responding?”
You don’t need to be a space professional—just imagine that you are in 2050, playing a key role in shaping the future of space. Be creative, visionary, and authentic.
Eligibility Criteria
- Aged 18–25 years at the time of application
- Open to all nationalities
- Submit a 1–3 minute video that is:
- Original content (no AI-generated material)
- In .mp4 format
- In any language (English captions required if not in English)
- Shot in landscape (horizontal) mode
- Original content (no AI-generated material)
Program Objectives
- Amplify youth voices in global space security dialogues
- Highlight creative, inclusive ideas for future space governance
- Inspire the next generation of leaders to shape the rules of outer space
