Applications are now open for the WWF Russell E. Train Fellowship (Education for Nature Program). This fellowship supports emerging conservation leaders from WWF-US priority countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean to pursue Master’s and PhD studies in conservation-related fields.
In addition to funding, the fellowship has a special track for current and aspiring university faculty who aim to strengthen conservation education in their home institutions. Fellows are expected to return to their countries after completing their studies to contribute to local and global conservation efforts.

- Funding: Up to USD 30,000 per year (for up to 3 years)
- Type: Partially Funded (tuition, research, and living expenses support)

Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the WWF Russell E. Train Fellowship 2026, candidates must:
- Be nationals of WWF-US priority countries (see full list below).
- Plan to pursue or already be enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program in a conservation-related field.
- Demonstrate leadership potential and a strong commitment to environmental conservation.
- Present a clear plan to contribute to conservation efforts in their home country after their studies.
- For the faculty track: Be a current or aspiring faculty member pursuing a PhD to develop or enhance graduate-level conservation programs in their institution.
