This prestigious, fully funded 9-week internship offers IT, Computer Science, and Software Engineering students from around the world a chance to gain hands-on experience at CERN, one of the world’s leading centers for scientific research.
The CERN OpenLab Summer Student Program will run from June to August 2026, providing participants with an incredible opportunity to work with top experts on advanced computing and research projects.
No application fee is required, and IELTS is not mandatory. Students currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or those graduating by May 2026, are eligible to apply.

Program Objectives
The CERN OpenLab Summer Program is designed for students specializing in Information Technology, Computer Science, and Software Development.
Participants will:

Financial Coverage
This internship is fully funded. Selected participants will receive:
- Daily stipend: 93 CHF/day (covers meals and accommodation).
- Travel allowance: Round-trip airfare and travel reimbursement to Geneva.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the CERN OpenLab Summer Program 2026, applicants must:
- Be a Bachelor’s or Master’s student in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related fields.
- Have completed at least 3 years of full-time university studies by Summer 2026.
- Remain enrolled as a student during the internship.
- Have not previously worked at CERN.
- Be proficient in English.
- Open to students of all nationalities.
