Applications are officially open for the St. Gallen Global Essay Competition 2026, a prestigious international contest organized by the International Students’ Committee (ISC).
This global competition invites Master’s students, PhD candidates, graduates, and postgraduate students from all academic fields to submit thought-provoking essays. Winners will receive an exclusive invitation to attend the 55th St. Gallen Symposium, taking place from 6–7 May 2026 at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.
There is no application fee, and students from any country are welcome to apply.

Essay Topic for 2026
“Disruption in Tech + Politics + Demography: What happens when they collide?” Choose a case where at least two of these forces interact, and propose a bold long-term idea to maximize benefits while reducing risks.
Essay Submission Requirements
- Maximum 2,100 words
- Must be written in English
- All submissions will be checked for plagiarism
- Only individual submissions are accepted
Eligibility Criteria
To apply, you must:
- Be enrolled in a graduate or postgraduate program (Master’s level or higher)
- Come from any country and any academic field
