The Ban Ki-moon Scholarship offers a significant tuition fee reduction, making high-quality education more accessible to students committed to sustainability and global development.
Financial Benefits Include:
- Scholarship value: Up to EUR 13,500 per year
- Reduced tuition fee: EUR 1,500 per year for eligible programmes
- Coverage: Tuition fee reduction only (no cash payment)
Important Conditions:
- The scholarship applies to the first year of the selected bachelor’s or master’s programme
- Extension to subsequent years is possible, subject to:
- Successful completion of the first academic year
- Positive academic and performance evaluation
- Tuition structures and scholarship conditions for Executive Master’s programmes may differ
Eligibility and Applicability
The Ban Ki-moon Scholarship is primarily aimed at non-EU nationals applying for eligible bachelor’s and master’s programmes.
For Executive Master’s programmes, applications are open to all nationalities.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply early to both their academic programme and the scholarship to allow sufficient time for evaluation.
Application Process
The application process consists of two mandatory steps.
Step 1: Apply to an MCI Study Programme
Applicants must first submit an application for admission through the MCI admissions portal for their chosen programme.
Step 2: Submit the Scholarship Application
Applicants must upload the following documents to the Ban Ki-moon Scholarship application portal:
- Confirmation of application to an MCI study programme
- Motivation letter outlining:
- Current or past engagement in SDG-related activities
- Future sustainability goals
- How studies at MCI will support these goals
- Financial justification for scholarship support
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Copies of academic degree certificates
- Proof of language proficiency
- Copy of passport
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Selection Criteria
Scholarship recipients are selected based on merit and demonstrated commitment to sustainable development, including:
- Current or past engagement in the SDGs
- Nature, scale, and impact of sustainability activities
- Future commitment to SDG-related goals
