Do You Need a Visa for Romania?
You must apply for a Romania visa if you are from a visa-required country. Nationals of some countries must also submit an invitation letter approved by the Romanian Inspectorate General for Immigration, especially for short-stay visas.
Travelers without biometric passports from certain countries are also subject to visa requirements.
Romania Visa Exemptions
You do not need a short-stay visa (up to 90 days) if you:
- Hold a valid Schengen visa or residence permit
- Have an EU long-term residence permit
- Hold a UK or Irish permanent residence permit (valid at least 5 years)
- Are a family member of an EU, EEA, Swiss, or Romanian citizen
