The African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) has officially opened applications for the African Union Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Ambassadors Initiative 2026. This prestigious continental program seeks passionate young Africans who are committed to advancing sexual and reproductive health, youth empowerment, and sustainable development across the continent.
The initiative is designed to place young people at the center of Africa’s development agenda by equipping them with the tools, networks, and opportunities needed to drive meaningful change in their communities.
About the AUDA-NEPAD Youth SRH Ambassadors Initiative
Africa is home to the largest youth population in the world, with more than 400 million young people between the ages of 15 and 35. By 2050, nearly 40% of the world’s youth are expected to live on the continent.
To fully harness this demographic advantage, investments in youth leadership, health, education, governance, and empowerment are essential. Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) remains a critical component of this vision, ensuring that young people are informed, healthy, and empowered to contribute to Africa’s social and economic transformation.
Through the Youth SRH Ambassadors Initiative, AUDA-NEPAD aims to develop a network of youth leaders who will champion SRH advocacy, amplify youth voices, and bridge the gap between grassroots communities and policy-making processes at national, regional, and continental levels.
The initiative is guided by the Energize Africa Framework, which recognizes young people as active partners and co-creators of solutions rather than passive beneficiaries of development programs.
