Applications are now open for the 2026/2027 Danish State Scholarships at Aarhus University for international students from non-EU/EEA countries who wish to pursue a Master’s degree in Denmark.
The scholarship program is funded by the Danish government and awarded to highly talented international students with excellent academic records. Aarhus University offers a limited number of scholarships each year across selected Master’s programmes.

Scholarship Benefits

Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the Danish State Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a non-EU/EEA international student
- Apply for an eligible Master’s degree programme at Aarhus University
- Have strong academic qualifications
- Meet the admission requirements for their selected programme
Due to the limited number of scholarships available, only the most academically outstanding applicants are selected. In many programmes, only one or two scholarships may be awarded.
Selection Process
Scholarship selection is automatic once you apply for admission to a Master’s programme at Aarhus University. No separate scholarship application is required.
If selected, applicants will receive a scholarship offer together with their admission letter through the university application portal. Please note that accepted students are usually given a short deadline to confirm the scholarship offer.
Applicants who are not selected for a scholarship will instead receive a tuition fee notification.
The university may continue awarding scholarships throughout March before the final admission deadline.
Important Information
- Scholarships are tied to a specific Master’s programme and cannot be transferred to another programme.
- If you do not receive a scholarship offer before the final admission deadline, you will be required to pay tuition fees.
- Applicants are advised not to decline their admission offer while scholarship decisions are still ongoing.
