Designed to foster cross-continental connections, this fellowship equips participants with the tools, experiences, and networks to drive transformative change in their communities and beyond.
About the Adinkra Fellowship
The Adinkra Fellowship is not just a leadership program—it’s a movement to unite and uplift visionary young changemakers from Africa’s 54 nations and the wider diaspora, including African American, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Latinx, and Black Canadian communities. Each year, a select group of dynamic leaders is chosen based on their proven achievements, leadership potential, and commitment to social impact.
Rooted in the values symbolized by Adinkra symbols of Ghana—such as integrity, unity, and resilience—the fellowship aims to build a global network of leaders who are passionate about reshaping the future of Africa and its diaspora.
Who Should Apply?
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be aged 40 or under
- Identify as part of Africa’s 54 nations or the global African Diaspora
- Demonstrate a track record of leadership or community impact
- Represent any of the following sectors:
- Business & Entrepreneurship
- Technology & Innovation
- Arts & Culture
- Civil Society
- Public Service
- Business & Entrepreneurship

What the Fellowship Offers
The Adinkra Fellowship is structured to support your leadership journey through immersive experiences, mentorship, and long-term collaboration:
Two Fully Funded International Trips
Fellows will participate in two transformative one-week trips:
- One to a country in Africa
- One to a nation with a strong African heritage
Each trip includes:
- Strategic workshops on Africa and the Diaspora
- Mentorship from experienced leaders
- “Meet the Leader” sessions with influential changemakers
- Visits to cultural and innovation hubs
- Leadership-building and team activities
- An end-of-trip awards ceremony
All travel expenses are covered, and fellows receive a $1,500 stipend ($750 per trip).
