Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Production Planning
- Work with the Farm Manager and Senior Agronomist to determine crop types, quantities, and planting schedules.
- Consider market demand and weather conditions to maximise yield.
2. Farm Operations Management
- Oversee the full crop cycle: soil preparation, seed selection, planting, weeding, thinning, pruning, and harvesting.
- Supervise day-to-day field operations.
3. Quality Control & Post-Harvest Handling
- Inspect, grade, store, and package produce.
- Identify defective products and ensure proper post-harvest treatment.
4. Agronomy
- Oversee fertilising, pesticide/weed control, and crop health.
- Monitor water, fertilizer, and chemical usage.
5. Logistics & Sales Support
- Manage the sale, purchase, and dispatch of produce.
- Monitor market activity and plan production to meet contract demands.
6. Equipment & Farm Maintenance
- Perform basic maintenance of machinery, tools, fences, buildings, and water systems.
7. Administration & Staff Supervision
- Maintain records of farming activities.
- Manage field rotations, schedules, and supervise staff and contractors.
- Report on production, quality, and safety issues.
Eligibility Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate III or IV in Agriculture or a related field plus at least 2 years’ experience, OR
- 3–5 years of relevant experience without formal qualification.
- Experience in horticultural operations or farm management.
- Experience with carrot, potato, and onion crops is highly desirable.
Licences & Certificates
- Unrestricted Class C Driver’s Licence (Essential)
- Chemical User Certificate (Essential)
- Forklift Licence (Essential)
- HC Licence (Essential)

- Basic mechanical knowledge
