International Excellence Scholarships 2026: Up to £4,000 to Study in the UK

The University of Greater Manchester is offering International Excellence Scholarships for the 2026/27 academic year, designed to reward outstanding academic achievement and support high-performing international students.

These scholarships provide tuition fee discounts of up to £4,000, with additional prestigious awards available for exceptional candidates across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes.

Scholarship Overview

The International Excellence Scholarships:

Apply to Year 1 only
Are awarded based on academic merit
Are offered as tuition fee discounts
Cover eligible Undergraduate, Postgraduate Taught (MA, MSc, MBA), and PhD programmes
Do not include MRes programmes

Four-year undergraduate programmes with foundation years are eligible for the Bronze Award only.

Global Excellence Package

This package is available to:

Self-funded students
Applicants applying directly (not through agents or government sponsors)
Students from selected countries across Africa, the Middle East, EU, North America, Asia, and Latin America

Award Levels

Gold Award (First Class / 70% GPA or equivalent): £4,000 tuition fee discount
Silver Award (Upper Second / 60% GPA or equivalent): £3,000 tuition fee discount
Bronze Award (All other eligible applicants): £2,000 tuition fee discount

International Merit Package

This package applies to:

Students from countries not included in the Global Excellence Package
Applicants applying through approved representatives or agents

Award Levels

Gold Award: £3,000 tuition fee discount
Silver Award: up to £2,000 tuition fee discount
Bronze Award: up to £1,000 tuition fee discount

Programme eligibility conditions remain the same as above.

Global Scholars Awards (Premium Recognition)

The Global Scholars Awards represent the highest distinction within the International Excellence scheme.

What’s Available:

10 awards worth £5,000 tuition fee discount (Year 1 only)
Available to Undergraduate and PhD applicants
Applicants must already qualify for a Gold International Excellence Scholarship
Open to selected countries only
Valid for the September 2026/27 intake

Selection Process:

Separate application required
Shortlisting based on academic excellence, personal statement, and leadership potential
Final selection includes an interview

Chancellor’s Excellence Scholar

From the Global Scholars Award recipients, one exceptional student will be selected as the Chancellor’s Excellence Scholar.

Award Benefit:

100% tuition fee discount for Year 1

This prestigious recognition highlights the university’s commitment to attracting globally outstanding students with strong academic and leadership credentials.

Additional Tuition Fee Discounts

Eligible students may combine their scholarship with the following awards (subject to criteria):

Women in STEM Award

£500 discount
Available to female students in Engineering, Computing, Psychology, Medical Biology, and Biomedical Sciences

Family Discount

£500 discount
Available to immediate family members of current students or offer holders
Includes spouse/partner, parent, sibling, or child

Transnational Education (TNE) Progression Award

£500 discount
Available to students progressing from approved overseas TNE partners

Alumni Progression Award

International alumni progressing to a higher level of study may qualify again for the International Merit Package
Valid up to five years after graduation

Combined awards cannot exceed the total Year 1 tuition fee.
