Applications are now open for the Young Leaders Programme (YLP) at the 17th International South China Sea Conference, organized by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV). This prestigious annual conference is one of the leading forums on maritime security, geopolitics, and international law, bringing together renowned scholars, policymakers, and practitioners from around the world.
The Young Leaders Programme is a dedicated platform under the conference that empowers the next generation of leaders to engage with the complex and multifaceted issues surrounding the South China Sea. It provides young changemakers with the tools, knowledge, and networks to contribute to shaping a more peaceful and cooperative future for the region.

- Take part in interactive activities, including livestream youth commentary, podcast recordings, and a Youth Academic Discussion Night with DAV Captains and local students.
- Present their own research and perspectives during the dedicated youth session “Youth Power: Overcoming Ambiguity, Strengthening Unity”, under the mentorship of senior researchers.
- Engage directly with experts in a working lunch with leading scholars and an intergenerational dialogue with policymakers, fostering deeper cross-generational connections.
- Gain first-hand exposure to high-level debates on maritime security, cooperation, and peacebuilding.

Eligibility Criteria
To apply, candidates must:
- Be aged 20–35 years old at the start of the programme.
- Be fluent in English (the working language of the conference).
- Have background knowledge in political science, international relations, international law, or related social sciences.
- Be passionate about maritime issues, peacebuilding, and regional cooperation.
Note: A total of 8 Young Leaders will be selected for the 2025 edition.
