Applications are now open for the U.S.-Japan Council Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) 2025, a fully funded leadership development experience taking place in Honolulu, Hawaii from October 13–17, 2025.
This prestigious five-day program brings together 12 young leaders of Japanese American heritage or those deeply engaged in U.S.-Japan relations. Participants will attend the U.S.-Japan Council Annual Conference, engage in leadership development sessions, and join a vibrant community of changemakers committed to strengthening ties between the two nations.
All expenses, including round-trip airfare, accommodation, meals, and registration, are fully covered by the program.

Who Should Apply?
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be 24 to 35 years old by October 2025
- Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
- Currently reside in the U.S. or Japan
- Show a demonstrated interest in U.S.-Japan relations through work, studies, or community engagement
- Have proven leadership experience in professional or civic life
- Be committed to remaining involved with the U.S.-Japan Council’s network and initiatives after the program
