Applications are now open for the Japan Africa Dream Scholarship (JADS) Program, a fully funded scholarship that empowers young African professionals to pursue Master’s degrees in Japan.
The program is a joint initiative of the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Government of Japan, designed to strengthen human capacity across Africa by providing advanced education in critical development fields.
Selected scholars will study at leading Japanese universities in areas such as energy, agriculture, health, environmental sustainability, and engineering, gaining both academic and practical expertise to drive transformative change in their home countries.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the JADS Program, applicants must:
- Be a national of an AfDB member country
- Be 35 years old or younger
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Have at least one year of paid work experience in Africa within the past three years
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to contributing to their home country’s development
- Secure admission to a JADS partner university in Japan
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Proven academic excellence
- Demonstrated leadership potential
- A clear vision for applying their skills to address Africa’s development challenges

Application Process
- Secure admission to a JADS partner university in Japan.
- Once admitted, the university will forward your application to the AfDB for final selection.
