Applications for the Ireland Fellows Programme 2027/28 will open on 29 June 2026. Funded by the Government of Ireland, the programme offers fully funded Master’s scholarships to early and mid-career professionals from eligible developing countries.
The fellowship gives participants the opportunity to study at leading Irish higher education institutions while developing skills that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their home countries.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be from an eligible developing country.
- Be an early or mid-career professional with leadership potential.
- Meet the requirements for their country’s fellowship strand.
- Apply for an eligible Master’s programme.
- Meet the English language requirements, including an IELTS certificate (or equivalent) if required by the university.
Note: Some fellowship strands are open to all eligible applicants, while others are by invitation only through Irish Embassies or designated partner organizations.
Application Process
The selection process takes place in three stages:
Stage 1: Preliminary Application
Applications usually open in June/July.
Stage 2: Detailed Application
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to submit a full application and supporting documents between September and October.
Stage 3: Interview
Final interviews are typically held between November and December.
