France is calling scholars from around the globe! Applications are now open for the prestigious FIAS Fellowship Program 2026/27 — a fully funded opportunity for researchers to carry out independent research in one of seven renowned French Institutes for Advanced Study.
The French Institutes for Advanced Study (FIAS) offer a 10-month residency in France, providing researchers from all nationalities the space, resources, and academic environment to develop their innovative projects. In the 2026/27 cycle, up to 28 fellowships will be awarded.

Fields of Research
The FIAS Fellowship primarily supports research in the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH), but interdisciplinary projects interfacing with SSH are also welcome.

Eligibility Criteria
- Open to applicants from all nationalities
- Applicable for postdoctoral researchers and senior scientists
- Minimum Requirement: PhD + two years of post-PhD research experience
- Mobility Rule: Applicants must not have lived or worked in France for more than 12 months during the past 3 years
- Strong research track record and proposal required
