Are you a published writer seeking inspiration, global connections, and a creative retreat? Applications are now open for the HKBU International Writers Workshop (IWW) 2026, a prestigious fully funded residency program hosted by Hong Kong Baptist University. The program runs for four weeks, from March 2 to March 29, 2026, and brings together talented writers from around the world to live, write, and share their stories under the theme: “Here and There.”
This immersive experience concludes with the IWW Literary Festival, giving participants a platform to showcase their work. Best of all? There’s no application fee.

Financial Support
Selected writers will receive the following:
- Round-trip airfare
- Accommodation on campus
- Daily stipend to cover meals and local expenses
Theme for 2026: Here and There
Participants will explore themes of place, identity, and cultural exchange through their writing, drawing from personal experiences and diverse perspectives.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply, you must:
- Be a published writer (minimum of one book published)
- Currently reside outside of Hong Kong
- Have a good command of English or Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese)
- Be available to attend the entire residency (March 2–29, 2026)
- Participate in the IWW Literary Festival during the final week

- Writing Sample (12–15 pages)
- CV or Resume
- Contact information for referees
