Job Opportunity: Farmworkers and Laborers – Crop, Nursery, Greenhouse at Ramirez Tomatoes

Ramirez Tomatoes in Rutledge, TN is hiring full-time farmworkers and laborers to work in crop, nursery, and greenhouse operations. This is an excellent opportunity for both U.S. workers and H2A visa holders to gain hands-on experience in agricultural production.

Positions Available: 10 workers
Work Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, approximately 42 hours per week
Location: Rutledge, Tennessee
Hourly Wage: $12.44 per hour

Job Duties

Workers will perform a variety of tasks in greenhouses and fields, including:

Transplanting plants, laying plastic, driving sticks, setting plants, putting string, and removing suckers
Spraying, picking, and harvesting crops such as tomatoes, green beans, bell peppers, and cucumbers
Cleaning fields: removing plastic, cutting string, pulling sticks, and drip lines
Preparing greenhouses and installing new top plastics
Applying fertilizers, pesticides, and other agricultural products
Monitoring plant health, detecting insects or diseases, and reporting progress to farm managers
Loading crops and driving trucks to transport produce to storage or processing facilities
Tilling soil, weeding, thinning, pruning, and using hand tools (shovels, hoes, pruning hooks, shears, loppers, knives)
Cleaning work areas and maintaining grounds and landscaping

Staggered Entry:

5 workers: Jan 9 – Oct 20
4 workers: May 8 – Sept 4

Requirements

No prior experience required
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions: heat, cold, humidity, wind
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and carry supplies
Follow instructions carefully
Workers may be required to take a random drug test at no cost; positive results or non-compliance may lead to termination
Must obtain an appropriate driver’s license within 30 days of hire and maintain a clean driving record to operate company vehicles
