The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has officially opened applications for the 2025 Short Film Competition, part of its national campaign in Nigeria against human trafficking. This annual contest coincides with the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons (July 30), bringing together artists, activists, and changemakers to raise awareness and spark action.
Theme for 2025:
“Human Trafficking is Organized Crime – End the Exploitation”
This year’s theme emphasizes the urgent need to dismantle trafficking networks through strong legal systems, justice reform, and survivor-centered solutions.

- 1st Prize: $2,500
- 2nd Prize: $1,500
- 3rd Prize: $1,000

Who Can Apply?
- Eligibility: Open to Nigerian citizens under the age of 35
- Focus: Aspiring filmmakers, storytellers, and creatives passionate about:
- Human rights
- Migration
- Social justice
- Counter-trafficking issues
- Human rights
- Note: While anyone can appear in the film, the production must reflect the voice and vision of the youth filmmaker(s). Participants must be directly involved in the project — whether directing, writing, filming, editing, or performing.
Submission Guidelines
- Format: Digital video (MOV or MP4 preferred)
- Quality: HD 1920×1080 is encouraged, but not mandatory
- Genres: Any style is welcome — documentary, drama, animation, music video, comedy, etc.
- Platform: Upload your film to a public or unlisted link on a video-sharing site (e.g., YouTube)
- Entry Process: Complete the online registration form and submit the video link.
