Travel to Türkiye for Free: COP31 Reporting Fellowship 2026 Now Open

Applications are now open for the 2026 COP31 Reporting Fellowship, organized by the Climate Change Media Partnership (CCMP), a collaboration between Earth Journalism Network (EJN) and the Stanley Center for Peace and Security.

The fellowship will support journalists to report from the 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31) in Antalya, Türkiye, taking place from November 9–20, 2026.

Fellowship Benefits

Selected fellows will receive:

Round-trip economy airfare to Türkiye
Accommodation throughout the conference
Meals and local transportation
Travel health insurance
Visa cost reimbursement
Daily stipend for incidentals
Media accreditation support
Mentorship from experienced climate journalists
Editorial guidance and networking opportunities

A limited number of virtual fellowships will also be available for journalists from Pacific Island nations, including a connectivity stipend and access to online training, briefings, and mentorship.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

Be professional journalists working with a recognized media outlet
Be based in a World Bank low- or middle-income country
Have experience covering environmental or climate-related issues
Have never attended a COP conference before
Be able to participate fully in English
Submit an updated CV/resume
Provide a short video pitch
Submit recent climate-related work samples
Obtain a letter of support from an editor confirming publication of fellowship stories

Freelance journalists may apply if they can secure publication commitments from a media organization.
