Fellowship Structure
The program runs for three months and includes the following stages:

Month 2 – Institutional Placement
Fellows gain practical experience by working alongside partner institutions and professionals.
Month 3 – Leadership Challenge Project
Each fellow designs and implements a local project addressing a challenge linked to a Commonwealth-wide theme.
Final Showcase
Participants present the outcomes of their Leadership Challenge Projects and reflect on their fellowship journey.

Who Can Apply?
The fellowship welcomes applications from young leaders who:
- Are 18 to 35 years old (typically)
- Are citizens of a Commonwealth member state
- Have demonstrated leadership experience or a strong commitment to community service, public service, or social impact
- Can fully participate throughout the three-month fellowship
- Are available to attend the required international convenings in the United Kingdom and Antigua and Barbuda
Travel and Logistics
Selected fellows will be expected to travel internationally twice during the fellowship:
- One week in London, United Kingdom (late August 2026)
- One week in Antigua and Barbuda during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM)
Important Travel Information
Unless otherwise announced, participants are expected to cover their own travel-related expenses. Applicants should therefore plan accordingly before applying.
Available Support
The Commonwealth Young Leaders Fellowship Secretariat will provide:
- Invitation letters for visa applications
- Support letters for visa processing
- Potential partial travel bursaries or accommodation support for selected fellows where funding partnerships become available
- Guidance on seeking financial support from employers, universities, or national youth agencies
