The World Health Organization (WHO) is now accepting applications for its Health Emergencies Internship 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland. What Will Interns Do?
Interns will join WHO’s Medical Countermeasures Unit, supporting projects focused on global health emergencies and pandemic preparedness. Responsibilities may include:
- Conducting literature reviews on medical countermeasures
- Researching vaccines, diagnostics, and therapeutics
- Collecting and analyzing scientific data
- Assisting with technical reports and policy documents
- Supporting international meetings, workshops, and conferences
- Preparing background materials for WHO programmes

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be of any nationality
- Have completed at least three years of undergraduate study before the internship begins
- Be currently enrolled in a university programme or have graduated within the last 18 months
- Be studying or have studied a relevant field such as:
- Medicine
- Public Health
- Biology
- Biochemistry
- Microbiology
- Virology
- Bioinformatics
- Statistics
- Information Sciences
- Medical Sciences
- Demonstrate strong English language proficiency
- Have good research, analytical, and communication skills
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of French or another United Nations language is an added advantage, while experience with statistical software or scientific research is considered beneficial.
