Participants can indicate their preferred laboratory and research interests when applying.
The program also gives students the opportunity to experience Germany’s research environment and develop connections with researchers and other students from different backgrounds.

What Fields Are Eligible?
The internship is suitable for Bachelor’s students studying disciplines related to Matter to Life and interdisciplinary scientific research.
Relevant academic backgrounds include:
- Biology

- Informatics

- Bioengineering
- Related scientific and technical fields
You do not need previous research experience to apply, but you should demonstrate a genuine interest in scientific research.
Eligibility Requirements
To apply, candidates must meet the program’s requirements, including:
- Be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or undergraduate degree program.
- Remain enrolled throughout the entire 10-week internship.
- Have completed at least 1.5 semesters of their degree by the time of application.
- Have completed at least two semesters by the beginning of the internship.
- Have a minimum GPA of 1.7.
- Be studying a relevant subject such as biology, chemistry, physics, informatics, materials science, engineering, bioengineering, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in research related to the Matter to Life field.
Important Eligibility Requirement
One requirement you should pay close attention to is your student status.
You must remain enrolled in your Bachelor’s degree for the entire 10-week internship.
Therefore, you should not complete your degree before the internship ends. If you are expected to graduate before or during the internship period, you may not meet this requirement.
