Applications are now open for the Cicero Traineeship Programme at the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) in Brussels, Belgium. This is a fully paid five-month traineeship that offers university graduates the opportunity to gain practical experience in a European Union institution while working on policies that impact regions and cities across Europe.
In addition to working alongside professionals from across the EU, trainees also have the opportunity to develop their own projects through the YFactor initiative, which encourages participants to create conferences, podcasts, eBooks, and other innovative projects.
Traineeship Benefits
Successful applicants will receive:
- A five-month full-time traineeship (40 hours per week)
- Placement in Brussels, Belgium
- Monthly grant of approximately €1,538
- Opportunity to choose up to three preferred CoR departments
- Travel and mobility allowance
- Accident insurance
- Optional health insurance
- Hands-on experience in a multicultural and multilingual EU institution
Traineeship Duration
Each traineeship lasts five months.
There are two sessions each year:
Spring Session
- Programme: 16 February – 15 July
- Application Period: 1 July – 1 October (12:00 noon Brussels time) of the previous year
- Interviews: November
- Final Selection: December
Autumn Session
- Programme: 16 September – 15 February
- Application Period: 6 January – 31 March (12:00 noon Brussels time)
- Interviews: May
- Final Selection: June

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a citizen of an EU Member State.
- Citizens of non-EU countries, including the United Kingdom, may also apply and may be selected in exceptional cases if their profile is of particular interest and they are legally eligible to live and work in Belgium.
- Hold a university degree or have completed at least three years of higher education by the application deadline.
- Be fluent in one official EU language and have a good working knowledge of either English or French.
- Not have completed more than eight weeks of in-house training or employment in any EU institution, body, agency, delegation, or representative office.
